Gli odontomi di interesse ortodontico [Odontomas in orthodontics]

Objectives: The paper presents a discussion on odontomas and their relationship with incisors' delayed eruption. Materials and methods: Odontomas can present in various form and they can cause a variety of complications in the developing dentition including incisors' impaction. This article reviews diagnosis and options for the management of odontomas. Results and Conclusions: There is a strong relationship between odontomas and incisors' delayed eruption. Early diagnosis and appropriate management can bring successfully the impacted incisor into occlusion. Rapid maxillary expansion treatment, following the surgical removal of the odontomas, appears to be an efficient interceptive approach.
