Neuroblastoma, representing about 7% of childhood malignant tumors, is the most common neoplasm in infancy and second malignancy after lymphomas as a solid tumor outside the central nervous system in childhood. Its differential diagnosis from other tumors can be difficult and requires diagnostic approaches other than histological analysis. This report describes the establishment of a human continuos cell line, derived from neuroblastoma, and its characterization, including ultrastructural and immunochemical marker expression, and a cytogenetic study. This cell line may provide a valuable in vitro model for further investigations towards a better characterization of neuroblastoma.
