Mosquito Alert Italia is a network - coordinated by the Medical Entomology (Med Ent) group of the Department of Public Health and Infectious Diseases in Sapienza University and including experts from ISS, IZSVenezie, MUSE and University of Bologna – aiming to complement entomological monitoring of native and invasive mosquitoes by Citizen Science (CS) approaches and to promote citizen’s awareness on mosquitoes and related public health risks and on implementation of individual-based approaches to reduce larval mosquito development. This is achieved by exploitation of Mosquito Alert application for smart phones available by which citizens can send photographic reports of mosquitoes or larval sites and notify mosquito biting activities.
